Best Concerts 2010 (just because lists are fun)

i've obviously been to many more concerts than usual this year, and it's a bit funny.

the crasiest one:
GRAND ISLAND and HOWL on Samfunnet
i bought tickets in way good time before the show, i RAN to the hall to avoid cues and so on and when we arrived there was virtually noone there. we were alone. and it seemed they didn't sell that many thickets either. omg.
so. of course when the band was supposed to play and they started rigging (i went for Grand Island) i ran up to the fence and started shouting and talked much to the band, they laughed and responded and i got their autographs. espen wrote "kjære deilige sofie, vi sees!" or something. i was in heaven, danced like on drugs and they even dedicated a song to me. HA HA HA!!! i was high for two whole, long and wonderful weeks afterwards. the most utterly insane experience i've had to that date in this category.
which gave me the energy to bike all the way to trondheim (770 km or something) in order to go see them again. stupid radio interviewed me three times. but i got backstage, talked a lot to steven wilson and they announced my achivement over the mic to the audience. nice. i was a celeb for one night.
biking well spent.

another crazy one:
Alberta Cross - Parken
i shouthed and had this tshirt made with a stensil i got from their website. i tossed it up while they rigged (which is quite the achivement, it was pretty far up to the stage!) and it landed on the GUITARHEAD of all places. petter got really angry and tossed it right back into the audience. i tossed it back up somewhere in the middle of the concert and he picked it up and commented it over the mic! AWESOME! parken laughed at his comment and i shouted RISE FROM THE SHADOWS (as i had done the whole concert) and then they played it. he hang the shirt over the bassdrum, it's awesome to see some clips from the show, the shirt waves heavily due to the bass. i felt proud and thought i deserved an award or something.
at the very least.

The soundtrack of our lives
i love this band and ebbot scared the shit out of me. i sang (at least the lyrics i remembered) and became in even more love with the band after this. dancing the whole concert, i was insanely high afterwards.
amazing<3>LOVE when the artists talk between songs!! it's the best thing and the peak of entertainment EVER. aaaaah...! and the music. it made me cry so heavily because i had a very difficult period of my life and way to many things in my head and while standing there i couldn't keep it down at all.
i even cry when i here the song "the funeral" because the performance of this song was perfect.
they took me by surprise.
and i fully let them in under my though skin.

another rather surprising one:
joddski at døgnvill
they made such an appearance, and being in tromsø made me feel as patriotic as EVER and i felt like shouting bodø, jumping on stage and dance there with them. tight, good show, so much fun and the people of tromsø sang along.
but anyways, joddskis shows are very good! seen them twice. but at døgnvill they made me a proud Nordlænning.
i guess that kind of surprised me. i admitted my patriotism for the first time.
and moving to bergen made it even worse/stronger.

well well.

Youth pictures of florence henderson
they took me by surprise, the scene were almost overcrowded, but the songs we're so good and the whole experience was nothing like i thought it would be. i've never heard them before, just went out of.. leisure. and i HAD to buy a lot of merch due to the concert being way too awesome, almost. love<3

Dungen
SO GOOD!! but the barefooted bassplayer won the day.
such a drag that we arrived late to the show. we should have been shot for that.
they played thight and people sang along. no dancing tho. that put the whole thing a bit down.

kråkesølv - sinus
AH PERFECTION. bodøband playing for bodøaudience. they had a great time and played very thight. people danced, shouted, knew the lyrics and all in all created a good mood and shared the love.

ihab at parken
a very good show by young blood, the lyrics really surprised me but the way he sang them .. omg. i was in shock afterwards, thinking this must be one of norways best and most promising bands. at least, i have them close to my heart for that reason, i really think the talent of sigurd is stunning. but the theme of the lyrics could easily change a bit more. haha. because he writes them in such a manner i absolutely think he should expand his catelouge here. welly well. they're recording an ep or cd or something now and i'm very exited

But
Honningbarna at Bhcf
was indeed one the best concert of 2010 on my behalf. because there's just not enough dancing on other concerts, people stand too much still. or i've been busy taking pictures, or thinking or being bothered about someone else in the audience bullying me away, or standing in front or me or talking or whatever.
this tho. moshpits, crowdsurfing and ALOT of dancing, i was dripping wet afterwards, made this the best experience ever, and all i want is to relive it.
their music is VERY good, and the lead singer plays a fucking cello.
it almost broke due to all the insane dancing. but what seriously made the big it for me was the look on these guys faces during the show; they could not believe how awesome the energy was, how and why people could take off in this manner and after saying they've never been this far north before i guess we were the ones taking them by good surprise this time around! they even played new songs. ah. being teenagers all of them i guess this launching of their career will make their spirits even stronger. amazing. i'll never forget this cocktail of elements that made for a perfect concert. i even were sober this evening. ha ha!
perfect.

i've had and led a jolly 2010 in many ways. but it has hurt me as well. so to speak, i guess we're even.

btw.

yesternight i really wanted to learn portugese.

the List Oh the listlist

SO! do I have an ultimate list of what's going for the albums of 2010?

hm i don't think so. but i have a some sort of summary. i'm quite awful at putting things in line, so i'll give you the favorites i can come up with as i speak. the rest will slowly come, hopefully befor the year is overdue.

# numbers infinite; Tame Impala - Innerspeaker
the rocking beauty and dancable rythms of this album makes me ever so happy, so i really want this thing in cdformate, not only on spotify. i'd absolutely love to see this band live now, just to freak out with em. this is seriously high quality music, straight from australia. lovely. happy. and makes me smile. and think of the swedish band, dungen. they're pretty much somewhat the same, but Innerspeaker is a much more..uplifted album!

Harrys Gym - What was ours can't be yours
OH MY FUCKING GOSH! this album swept me off my feet and sent me straight into an even more serious loveaffair with Anne Lise Frøkedal. her voice is so.. immense and dreamy and psychedelic, i guess. what an album, definetly one of norways best (hahahahaha my opinion and i have not heard all the new albums from norway in 2010, too many and too little time/love) albums this year, i absolutely love it. from start to finnish. and yes, you Have Got to hear this album as a whole, it makes so much sense. i became instantly addicted to it. i suggest you do the same. <3

Department of eagles - Archives 2003-2006
I LOVE THIS THING!
amazing and strange beauty. i love daniel rossen and i'd love to love him so much that we became a functional unit. i sometimes think i see him some places, specially when i lived in bergen. haha. okay. love. is lovely. why? he's a genious. his guitars and his voice is the most special and breathtaking thing i've heard for quite some time. his talent could easily match thom yorkes (mmmmh! strong words), but of course in a different manner.. he's probably a better guitarplayer, i reckon. oh daniel.
so the album. archives, you say? from that day and age? published in 2010? why yes. and it works. you could easily hear a lot of what became In Ear Park, but at the same time it is indeed it's own set of songs and works. i love this. but i am in such love with DoE that words cannot describe omg.

Grand Island - Songs from østra knoll
is a good record. nomather what your preference is. this album kicks some sweet ass. i can't decide which album from them's the best, because they're all really different. which is a certain sign this band is indeed quite good. nice people, too. i now know. i don't know what it is about steven wilson, but when he said yes to Grand Island and starred on a song, i went completely mad. i've listened this album to bits and pieces, and i biked 770 km to go see them live again. that says alot.
it's still not my favorite music of all time in that alternative, psycho and deepthinking manner, but it's good music that goes well with the public scene. Espen writes amazing lyrics and has the coolest voice in the history of time. whenever i hear grand island played, i go nuts with fierce energy and start dancing and thinking i'm irresistible.

WARPAINT! - The fool
oh dear god this album is so good! it kind of reminds me of radiohead, so .. omg! it's a good mashup of different things i love, and they're girls. (from LA, but whatever. cool things)
they had a little help from a guy in Rhcp. i think this album is well done, kind of different and i love the sound. it is very melancholic and the lyrics kind of hits a nerve with me.
they're most radiohitable song, "undertow", is very good, i keep thinking i've heard this one on radio before, absolutely. i go into a trance of pure happiness and utter understanding when i hear this. Lovely. I LOVE THIS BAND! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
than you, people.
"why you wanna blame me for your troubles?"
and the tune shadows is strange and gets right under my skin, causing a lot of emotions to arise.
all in all, this album is for me pure emotion and makes me feel like i feel when listening to radiohead. that's a first.. which tells how good a band this is.
i've btw been stuck with this album for such a long time now, i can't seem to move on/listen to something else....

LIARS! SISTERWORLD!!! OOOOOOMGGG!!
their music is amazing, and this album is too - it has everything. i'm a huge fan of them right from the start, and this album awakes so much interesting, deep down and on the surface. it's the most..stripped down, i guess, i've heard them, which makes it less liarsy - ergo it's quite publicfriendly and an album i've managed to recommend to other people. otherwise liars is a bit.. offsetting? oh how i love this band and this album.
okay. this might be the best thing published this year. i guess. it's about LA, the lyrcis makes you scared and the music makes you shiver. this band.... they're so immense. i've built a steady love for them that noone can shake now. so it really does not matter what people think. to me, this is perfection. noise, deep lyrics, good music, scary music, dancable music!!!!, concept albums, ANGUS ANDREW FFS!!! julian gross and aaron hemphill. three guys. that i tend to dream about playing intimate concerts for me.

Peter Wolf Crier - InterBe
aaaah utter utter happiness. i love this. it's quite alternative and distorted folk/rock. two guys making lovely music that warms me so. i fell in instant love with this and spend the entire album smiling. they're mostly kind of upbeat, the lyrics a bit hard to catch but is mostly about .. love? i guess. and life. of course. the piano they play in most songs are so much fun, good good good stuff!
hard as nails usually get my waterworks going. seriously..
this album is so worth getting to know and i'm so happy i did! during my period with a lot of folkmusic in sight, but i kind of slowly turned away from that, automatically. ha ha.
peter wolf crier. i love you!

Susanne Sundfør - The Brothel
i almost forgot this. but as deserved, it has been ranked VERY high this year on other mediums toplists anno 2010.
i remember the first time i heard this album as a whole. of course when biking up a 3 km long 8% steep hill that took me the entire lenght of the album to get up (with the hanger). it was not the most motivational or boosting music, but it got under my skin. later i lied in the tent, rather afraid, and put this album in my ears again. it took me so far away, i couldn't recall anything worldly for a long time.
it sounds somehow like a female thom yorke solo-album. halfelectronic. not AS electronic as he made his The Eraser. so i think it is a huge compliment for her to get.
of course, lars horntveth deserves alot of the creds. but susanne has grown in such a way that i hope she contionues down this lovely path/up that wonderful ladder and keeps making music like this. i actually beg her to.
the string arrangements and the piano and the drums and the wonderfully weird but not at all misplaced electronic synthy sounds in her songs are to die for. my eyes get wet just from thinking about it.
lyricwise tho. they would not suffer from getting better.
i guess.
but still, one of the best norwegian albums EVER.

røyksopp - senior
they've taken all the things i LOVE them for and about, and made this album with it. i'm still exploring this album, but i've listened to it alot in bergen and i still believe it is way way better than most they've made so far. it is a cocktail between the mood from alpha male and what else is there. and it's entirely instrumental. WAY TO GO! i hate their voices. and their lyrics.
but the utter masterpiece that is 'what else is there' is seriously one of the best songs i've ever heard so far in my life.
that's cerdable

Kråkesølv - Bomtur til jorda
haha i fell in love with them when i lived in bergen due to homesickness. i had only heard the tune Privat Regn and didn't care much for it. so i've never paid much interest. but i heard the new single Nordavind and OMG it sounded so good it scared me. their latest album is immense. more noise, more control, same lyrics (i love the sound of our dialect when sung, it's so lyrical and poetic. for some reason). so i'm way proud of them. working with a man i've loved and admired a long time, øystein greni, helped a lot. great musicians. i believe their my age.
makes me think i should have done something about my life.
but this cd. VERY NICE INDEED!!
i went to their releaseconcert. amazing. one of the best concerts i've been to this year. and that says a lot.

Thomas Dybahl - Waiting for that one clear moment
i've seen this man and his men in concert twice this year. what an amazing talent this guy has. his voice is uniqely not from this world. so. i've not cared all that much about him before, but this last album is strange, new, somewhat innovative and he gained me as a serious fan from this. songs like Impresjoniste and Oh brother says it all. emotional, original and very very good. and his voice keeps surprising me. interesting. i'm glad he dared to make this album and i hope he in the future will keep on with this sort of thing. so i have to say thank him for making music.

okay i now see that this list is pretty short and holey, so i'll fill it up if i remember some more albums/ get to know (which i'm in urgent use of) more music from 2010.
